(071) CANNIBAL TOMORROW (1983) Giuseppe Scotese 'Hard' Mondo
(071) CANNIBAL TOMORROW (1983) Giuseppe Scotese \'Hard\' Mondo
8663DVD

original Italian title CANNIBALI DOMANI [Cannibal Tomorrow]
also known as LA FINE DEL MONDO (The End of the World)

director Giuseppe Maria Scotese    |   narrator Dario Penne
music by Marcello Giombini

Filmmaker Scotese takes his camera and crew to the most depressed areas of the globe to document the injustice caused by the domination of the "chosen people" over others. Again and again, the third world falls to armies and dictators fixed on imprisoning fellow human beings through force and poverty. The film opens with environmental disasters and the devastating cancerous effects of atomic experiments on people in Western United States and then exposes the morbid result of pollution in other parts of the world. From the unthinkable meals of the Australian aborigines to forced cannibalism in the Amazon, Scotese's film builds to its disturbing climax. This is grim entertainment, a disturbing coda to the more accessible Mondo films of the '60s and '70.

Giuseppe Maria Scotese was an Italian filmmaker who lensed the majority of his projects [mostly documentaries] as co-projects with Germany production companies. He is probably best known for the amazing 1974 'true life adventure' film GIRL FIGHTING THROUGH GREEN HELL and the expose of the NYC hippie scene ACID: DELIRIUM OF THE SENSES. Mr Scotese died from a heart attack at age 85 in 2002.
