Ross
Logan is a gunfighter who vows vengeance for his murdered brother at
the hands of Porfirio Carranza and his outlaw gang. While the plot would
become rather typical of the Spaghetti Western genre, this one has a
lot to recommend. Bounty hunter Ross Logan (played by Canadian Lang
Jeffries) is a mesmerizing character: book-smart, stoic and resilient.
Besides being a top-notch marksman, he has a strong interest in astrology
and meteorological conditions. Ross uses these 'sciences' to
his advantage against the less-educated varmints of the West, allowing
him to operate in a - seemingly - supernatural zone [for example, he
has an advantage in a gunfight by calculation of an upcoming eclipse].
The
movie is full of 'Sergio Leone' macho brooding, lots of gunfights
with spectacular kills (great stunt work), scuzzy close ups, beautiful
women [some of the most attractive to appear in a Euro Western], stunning
cinematography from Mario Pacheco and a pulsating musical score from
underrated Angelo Lavagnino.
