What a surprise! A
quirky bright film that progressively grows darker and darker as it unspools,
transforming from chic pop to supernatural chills and eventually to slasher
horror! A famous Indonesian girl pop band known as Seven Angels visit
Australia to shoot a music video for an upcoming album called ANGELS ARE
FALLING. On an off weekend, they meet a local singer named Mark who talks
the girls into a 'scary visit' to a former lunatic asylum in a near-by
rural village. This breezy teen drama unexpectedly begins to turn gruesome.
It's quite the shock
when Gigi Cherrybelle - perhaps the best known member of the group - dies
brutally, giving the audience a 'no holds barred / we're not in Kansas
anymore' warning. This has suddenly become a slasher movie with various
members of the Seven Angels bloodily littering the asylum floor as the
plot now escalates into bizarre supernatural territory.
This is probably the
best known movie from director M. Yusuf who has enjoyed some success with
Independent Asian horror films over the past few years (Demon Possession,
Angker, The Curse, et al. He is quickly becoming one of the Indonesian
filmmakers to watch as his career continues to thrill the International
genre horror fans.
