Original Portuguese Title: EL BOSQUE NEGRO [Black Forest or Black Woods]

director: RodrigoAragao
starring: Carol Aragao · Jackson Antunes · Clarissa Pinheiro · Francisco Gaspar · Markus Konka

Here, Rodrigo Aragão delivers a raw, muddy, slab of dark-magic jungle-horror [similar to his debut MUD ZOMBIES]. The focus is on an innocent (naivé, perhaps?) herbalist named Clara, the daughter of an aging village priest. One day, while coming home from the market, Clara comes across the Lost Book of Cypriano, a Necronomicon-esque tome filled with secret spells and curses. She begins experimenting. But dabbling in dark magic only escalates to greater trouble as Clara attempts to redirect the damage created by previous curses. However, she becomes the ultimate victim, dragging the community along for the holocaust.

Rodrigo Aragao is quickly becoming one of the best splatter/horror filmmakers in the world. He is especially enjoying a stellar reputation based on the success of CEMETERY OF LOST SOULS, BLACK WATER, NIGHT OF THE CHUPACABRAS and HOLLOW BUILDING.
